Harlinsdale Farm is one of my favorite engagement session locations in Middle Tennessee.
Not only does the property offer beautiful open fields, but it also features white fences, rustic barns, a pond, and a charming farmhouse. As a result, it provides a variety of backdrops for timeless engagement photos.
When Ally and Abrahm chose Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, Tennessee, I knew it would be the perfect setting for their session.
Fortunately, the weather could not have been better. The evening brought soft golden light, comfortable temperatures, and a gentle breeze.
To begin the session, we met near the historic farmhouse. Its classic Southern charm created the perfect backdrop for our first photos. The hydrangea’s were in full bloom and a slight breeze blowing, making for a perfect starting point.
Ally and Abrahm were really excited for the other parts of the property, so from there we walked and chatted and eventually made our way toward the barns and open fields that were filled with soft light.
From the very beginning, this session felt easy and natural.
Ally was completely comfortable in front of the camera. In fact, every pose looked effortless. She honestly could have stepped into a modeling campaign.
Meanwhile, Abrahm admitted that having his photo taken is not usually his favorite thing. Even so, you would never know it from these images.
Throughout the session, he was relaxed, engaged, and completely focused on Ally.
More importantly, the connection between them was impossible to miss.
The smiles were genuine. The laughter came naturally. Whether they were walking through the fields or simply standing together, their love was easy to see.
Because of that, photographing them felt effortless.
Those are always my favorite sessions. When a couple truly enjoys being together, the photos tell the story on their own.
Although this engagement session marks an exciting new chapter, their story began many years ago.
Ally and Abrahm have known each other since childhood. Since Abrahm was close friends with Ally’s brother, their paths crossed often while growing up.
Even though they were three years apart in age, they remained connected over the years.
Later, both attended nursing school at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
After graduation, life eventually brought them both to Nashville.
That is when everything changed.
As they spent more time together, their friendship naturally grew into something more.
When asked when she knew Abrahm was her person, Ally shared a simple but meaningful story.
As their friendship was becoming something deeper, she unexpectedly ran into Abrahm’s mom while traveling.
At the time, it felt like more than a coincidence.
“It felt like a sign.”
Sometimes the smallest moments end up meaning the most.
Their first date started with a game of tennis.
At the time, Ally was still trying to keep things in the friend zone.
However, Abrahm was not ready to give up that easily.
After asking her several times, he finally convinced her to join him for dinner.
Afterward, they headed out for hibachi and shared a meal together.
“I remember thinking, ‘Wow, he didn’t eat much,'” Ally laughed.
“Now I know it was just nerves. These days, he definitely doesn’t like sharing his food!”
Looking back, it was the beginning of something special.
Not long after they started dating, the two spent a quiet Sunday together.
As they sat on the couch talking and laughing, the conversation naturally turned more serious.
For weeks, Abrahm had almost said those three words.
Finally, he could not hold them back any longer.
He told Ally how much she meant to him and that he could not imagine life without her.
The proposal was thoughtful, personal, and perfectly planned.
After returning from a family trip to the Dominican Republic, Ally thought a proposal might happen there.
Instead, Abrahm had something even more meaningful in mind.
The couple traveled to Fayetteville, Tennessee, for a weekend on his family’s farm.
Meanwhile, his sister-in-law casually mentioned taking maternity photos that evening. She suggested grabbing a few family photos afterward.
Of course, Ally had no idea it was all part of the plan.
A little later, Abrahm led her to the top of the farm.
Along the way, flower petals lined a path leading to a beautiful arrangement of flowers.
Then came the moment she had been waiting for.
Surrounded by the beauty of the family property, Abrahm got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
Her reaction?
“Oh my gosh, is this really happening? And finally, I get to marry him!”
As it turns out, the proposal itself was only part of the surprise.
Hidden throughout the property were family members documenting every moment.
For example, Abrahm’s pregnant sister-in-law was tucked away in a hunting house taking photos.
At the same time, his brother was hiding in a nearby field capturing every angle.
Despite the bugs and the heat, they made sure every memory was preserved.
Because of their efforts, Ally and Abrahm now have memories they will cherish forever.
When asked what they admire most about one another, their answers revealed the heart of their relationship.
For Ally, it is Abrahm’s kindness and selflessness.
She loves how he consistently puts others before himself.
“He loves me like I never knew anyone could.”
For Abrahm, it is Ally’s faith, determination, and work ethic.
“She is so easy to love.”
Together, they bring out the very best in each other.
According to their friends, Ally and Abrahm are inseparable.
They love spending time together, enjoy a good Mexican restaurant, and rarely stay out past 9 p.m.
As they prepare for marriage, they are most excited about everyday life together.
More than anything, they look forward to coming home to one another each day.
They are excited to build a life together and experience every season side by side.
At the same time, they are incredibly grateful for the support they have received during this season.
“We feel so lucky to have people around us who love and support us the way they do.”
So what are they most excited about on their wedding day at The Palace of Riverbend?
Without question, celebrating with the people they love most.
And, of course, tearing up the dance floor together.
Ally and Abrahm, thank you for trusting me to capture this special season of your lives.
I loved spending the evening with you at Harlinsdale Farm.
Bill and I cannot wait to celebrate alongside you on your wedding day.
Until then, congratulations and enjoy every moment of this exciting season together.
