Claire & Jake’s Beautiful Tennessee Wedding

Some weddings are just so incredibly beautiful from the start.

Claire and Jake’s wedding day in Ardmore, Tennessee, was one of those days. As a husband-and-wife Nashville wedding photography team, Bill and I loved capturing a celebration that felt personal, romantic, family-centered, and full of genuine emotion. As a wife-and-husband photography team, we love creating images that preserve both the beauty of the day and the relationships that make it meaningful.

From the quiet moments of Claire getting ready to the golden-hour portraits that ended the evening, every part of their wedding day felt like it belonged to them.

Their celebration brought nearly 150 of their closest family members and friends together in a beautiful outdoor setting surrounded by the Tennessee landscape. There were so many meaningful moments throughout the day, but what stood out most was how deeply connected Claire and Jake were to the people they love.

That is the kind of wedding day we love documenting—beautiful, emotional, and filled with the people and moments that matter most.

A Beautiful Morning Becoming a Bride

Claire’s wedding day began in a little white house at the front of the property, surrounded by her mom, Angie, her twin sister and maid of honor, Carlie, and her bridesmaids.

There is something special about those quiet hours before a ceremony. The dress is hanging nearby, the veil is waiting, and everyone knows that before long, the bride will walk down the aisle.

Claire wore a fitted wedding gown with a beautiful train and an incredibly long veil that created gorgeous movement during her bridal portraits. Her bridesmaids wore elegant dresses in soft blue tones that complemented the navy blue, sky blue, pink, green, and white color palette throughout the wedding.

Everything came together beautifully against the natural Tennessee landscape.

But some of my favorite photographs from the morning weren’t about the dress at all.

They were the photographs of Claire with the women who helped her get ready.

Her mom helping with the finishing touches.

Her twin sister beside her.

Her bridesmaids surrounding her.

Those are the moments that tell the story behind the wedding day.

And those are exactly the kinds of moments we look for as Middle Tennessee wedding photographers.

A Father’s First Look

One of the most meaningful moments of the morning was Claire’s first look with her dad, Chad.

Watching a father see his daughter as a bride for the first time never gets old. There is so much history in that one moment. A lifetime of memories seems to come rushing back as he looks at the little girl he once held and realizes she’s now standing in front of him as a bride.

Claire’s first look with her dad was filled with emotion, and it was one of those moments where we simply stepped back and allowed it to unfold naturally.

No posing was necessary.

No direction was needed.

It was just a dad and his daughter sharing a moment neither of them would ever forget.

Those are the photographs that become more valuable as the years pass.

A Bride & Groom Ready to Begin

Soon it was time for Claire and Jake to become husband and wife.

Claire walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of “Goodness of God,” a song that has always been especially meaningful to both of them.

It was such a beautiful choice for their ceremony and added another layer of meaning to a moment that already carried so much emotion.

With their families and friends gathered around them, Claire and Jake exchanged their vows and began their marriage surrounded by the people who know and love them best.

And then came that first walk back down the aisle together.

The nerves were gone.

The waiting was over.

They were married.

A Celebration of Family

Family was such an important part of Claire and Jake’s wedding day.

Their parents, siblings, grandparents, and closest friends had all come together to celebrate this new chapter. Claire’s twin sister, Carlie, stood proudly beside her as maid of honor, while Jake’s brother, Ben, served as his best man.

After the ceremony, we photographed Claire and Jake with their immediate family before moving into wedding party portraits.

These photographs may seem like a small part of the day while you’re living it, but we know how important they become over time.

Years from now, Claire and Jake will be able to look back and see the people who surrounded them on the day they began their marriage.

That is one of the reasons we approach Tennessee wedding photography with a documentary mindset. We want to create beautiful portraits, but we also want to preserve the people, relationships, and moments that make a wedding day uniquely yours.

The Wedding Party

The wedding party brought plenty of personality to the portraits.

There was laughter, excitement, and the kind of natural interaction that makes wedding party photographs feel like the people in them.

Claire and Jake weren’t simply surrounded by bridesmaids and groomsmen.

They were surrounded by friends and family members who had shared pieces of their lives with them long before this day.

And that’s what makes these photographs meaningful.

They aren’t just pictures of a wedding party.

They’re pictures of the people who stood beside Claire and Jake when it mattered most.

The First Dance

After the portraits, Claire and Jake made their grand entrance into the reception as husband and wife.

Their first dance was to “10-90” by Muscadine Bloodline, a song they’ve always loved and feel represents their relationship so well.

There was something incredibly sweet about watching them dance together surrounded by nearly 150 people who had come to celebrate them.

No elaborate routine was needed.

Just the two of them, holding each other and taking in the fact that they had finally made it to this moment.

Then came the parent dances, including a beautiful mother-daughter dance between Claire and Angie.

After spending the morning helping her daughter become a bride, Angie now had a few quiet minutes to simply enjoy being with her daughter.

And because this dance wouldn’t feel right without her, Claire’s twin sister was invited to join them and share in this very special emotional moment.

Those moments are easy to overlook in the rush of a wedding day.

They’re also the moments we hope couples never forget.

A Celebration Surrounded by Love

After a blessing, everyone gathered for dinner and the celebration continued.

The room was filled with the people Claire and Jake love most.

Conversations, laughter, music, and plenty of celebration filled the evening as everyone enjoyed being together.

There’s something special about having nearly 150 people in one place for one reason.

They came for Claire and Jake.

They came to celebrate their love.

And they came to witness the beginning of their marriage.

Golden Hour Portraits in the Tennessee Countryside

One of our favorite parts of the day came later in the evening when we stole Claire and Jake away for golden-hour portraits.

The evening light was beautiful across the property, and the pond and lower garden gave us a peaceful setting for some quiet time with the newlyweds.

After spending the day surrounded by family and friends, it was nice to give them a few minutes alone.

They walked together.

They laughed.

They held each other.

Claire’s long veil moved through the evening light, and the Tennessee landscape seemed to stretch endlessly behind them.

These are some of our favorite kinds of wedding portraits because nothing feels forced.

It’s simply a couple enjoying the first few hours of being married.

And that is something we value deeply in our approach to Nashville and Middle Tennessee wedding photography. We want couples to have beautiful portraits, but we also want those portraits to feel like them.

Photographs That Become Family History
