When I think about what makes engagement sessions so special, Beth & Cory’s day on the Ocoee River in Tennessee immediately comes to mind. Their story is one filled with faith, family, and friendship, and it was such a joy to capture their love in such a stunning natural setting.
Beth and Cory’s story began thanks to family and church community.
Beth’s perspective:
“I became friends with Tammy through church choir. She asked me to sit with her in the service one day, and introduced me to her nephew, Cory. She invited me to join them for lunch to get to know him. At the end of the lunch, Cory asked to see me again for our official first date.”
Cory’s perspective:
“I had just moved into town and my grandma showed me a photo of a cute girl. I agreed to go with my aunt Tammy to church to meet her. After going to lunch, I knew I wanted to see her again, so I asked her out on an official date later that week.”
Beth and Cory share a love for the simple joys of life together: hiking trails, scenic drives, cooking meals at home, and adventuring to neighboring cities.
Their favorite date nights are a perfect reflection of their relationship—cozy and fun. They often return to where it all started: Community Pie in Chattanooga for pizza, or a stop at State of Confusion, followed by a walk along the bridge or riverwalk and, of course, ice cream to finish the night.
They even have countless sweet little pet names for one another, making their bond full of warmth and playfulness.
Cory planned a proposal that was as surprising as it was heartfelt. At the end of a Wednesday night choir rehearsal—with about 120 people present—he proposed to Beth on her birthday.
Beth was completely shocked, not just because it was her birthday, but because Cory usually avoids the spotlight. His thoughtful words moved everyone to tears, and it was a night Beth (and everyone else in that choir room!) will never forget.
Beth and Cory are most excited about celebrating their wedding day surrounded by their closest family and friends. More than that, they look forward to building a life together, raising a family, and always being each other’s best friend.
Three words they’d use to describe their love story?
Best Friends Forever.
Their Ocoee River engagement session was the perfect way to celebrate their story. The riverbank gave us a mix of adventure and romance—reflecting who they are together. From soft smiles to laughter by the water, it was clear that Beth and Cory are building a love that’s rooted in friendship, faith, and joy.
I can’t wait to see them step into this next season as husband and wife!
