There’s something beautiful about engagement sessions that don’t go exactly as planned.
Sometimes the unexpected moments end up becoming the ones you remember most.
And Lilly and Max’s engagement session in Centennial Park and downtown Nashville was the perfect reminder of that.

We met in front of the iconic The Parthenon at Centennial Park, and right away I could tell the park was packed.
At first, I wasn’t too worried. I always allow plenty of time for engagement session.
We started walking toward the first location I had envisioned… only to discover a large construction project directly in the background of where I had planned to shoot.
I adjusted quickly, finding a small pocket where I could work strategically. It wasn’t ideal, but it was manageable.
Then we headed toward a second location inside the park—a garden area I’ve always loved for its soft, romantic feel.
And… more construction.
Fences everywhere. Very little flowers. Nothing like the vision I had imagined for them.
That’s when I felt it.
That quick wave of panic.
I didn’t want Lilly and Max to feel disappointed. I didn’t want them to feel like their engagement session experience was falling apart. For a brief moment, I honestly felt like I had failed them.
With time slipping away and golden hour already coming fast, I knew we needed to make a decision quickly.
I suggested changing locations, even though I didn’t immediately know where we would go.
And then everything shifted.
They looked at me and simply said they trusted me.
Just like that.
Their trust immediately quieted the panic in my mind. It reminded me that this session wasn’t about perfect locations or flawless plans—it was about the experience we were creating together.
Once I slowed down and thought clearly, I remembered a location I had seen while on a field trip with my granddaughter.
It had the exact soft, timeless feel Lilly loved—white tones, open space, and just enough texture to create something romantic and elegant without feeling overly styled.
So we went.
And honestly… it could not have been more perfect.
In fact, I absolutely adore their engagement photos.
The light.
The connection.
The way they naturally settled into each other.
Everything came together in a way I never could have planned.
Lilly began the session wearing a beautiful strapless floral dress, while Max paired light trousers with a linen shirt that perfectly complemented the soft, romantic atmosphere of the evening.
For their second look, Lilly changed into a white strapless cotton dress, and Max wore a stunning blue jacket with matching pants.
Both of Lilly’s dresses were from Cocolillys and fit the vision for their engagement session beautifully.
Their outfits felt timeless, elegant, and effortless—perfect for a romantic Nashville engagement session.
I went into this session hoping for that magical golden-hour glow.
And somehow… we found something even better.
There is something truly special about the way the evening light wrapped itself around Lilly and Max during our time together. From the very beginning, their joy felt effortless—the kind that makes this work feel less like a job and more like witnessing something meaningful unfold in real time.
The laughter came easily.
The quiet moments felt genuine.
And every image reflected the deep comfort they have with one another.
Those are always the moments I love most.

Lilly and Max, thank you for trusting me—not just with your images, but in a moment when things didn’t go according to plan.
That trust meant more than you know.
I’m already counting down the days until your wedding celebration.
