Senior Session Experience in Gallatin & Hendersonville, TN | What to Expect

Senior Session Experience in Gallatin & Hendersonville, TN

One of the biggest questions I get from seniors and parents is:

“What does the process actually look like?”

If you’ve never booked a senior session before, it can feel a little unknown. My goal is to make this experience feel simple, comfortable, and even fun—from the very first conversation to the final gallery delivery.

Here’s a look at what you can expect when you book a senior session in the Gallatin and Hendersonville, TN area.

Step 1: Starting the Conversation

Every session begins with a conversation.

Whether I’m talking with the senior or their parent, this is where we connect and make sure we’re a good fit. We’ll talk through my style, what you’re looking for, and what matters most to you for this season.

I’ll also walk you through pricing and answer any questions so you can feel confident moving forward.

Step 2: Booking Your Session

Once you’re ready to move forward, I’ll collect the retainer and we’ll officially get your session on the calendar.

We’ll choose a date that works well—and I’ll guide you toward the best timing for portraits.

I always recommend scheduling sessions during golden hour, which is the hour before sunset. The light during this time is soft, flattering, and creates that warm, glowing look that makes such a difference in your final images.

Step 3: Planning Your Outfits & Details

About a couple of weeks before your session, we’ll reconnect to plan the details.

This is where we talk through outfit options, colors, and anything you might want to bring that reflects who you are—whether that’s sports gear, instruments, or something meaningful to your senior year.

The goal is to make sure your session feels personal and true to you.

Step 4: Arriving at Your Session

When we meet at your location, we’ll take a few minutes to talk before we ever start taking photos.

This is such an important part of the process.

It gives you time to settle in, ask questions, and start to feel more comfortable in front of the camera.

Step 5: A Comfortable, Guided Session

During the session, I’ll guide you the entire time.

You won’t have to wonder what to do with your hands or how to stand—I’ll walk you through everything in a way that feels natural and easy.

And one of the first things I always say is this:

“You can’t mess this up—and I’m going to help you with everything.”

Because it’s true.

You don’t have to come in knowing how to pose or feeling completely confident. My job is to create a space where you can relax, be yourself, and actually enjoy the experience.

We’ll talk, laugh, and keep things moving so you never feel stuck or awkward. The best images always come when you feel comfortable enough to just be you.

Step 6: After Your Session

Once your session is complete, I head home and begin the next steps.

That same evening, I’ll go through and cull your images—carefully selecting the best moments from your session.

The next day, I begin editing, bringing your images to life with the consistent style you see throughout my work.

Step 7: Your Blog Preview

Within about 7 days of your session, I’ll share a blog post featuring my favorite images.

This is one of my favorite parts of the process—getting to tell a little piece of your story and highlight the moments that stood out most.

You’ll receive the blog link to view and share with family and friends.

Step 8: Your Full Gallery Delivery

About 2 days after your blog is sent, your full gallery will be ready.

You’ll be able to download your images, share them, and start enjoying everything we created together.

A Senior Experience That Feels Like You

At the end of the day, this process isn’t just about taking photos.

It’s about creating an experience where you feel comfortable, confident, and seen.

From start to finish, my goal is to guide you every step of the way so that your senior session in Gallatin or Hendersonville, TN feels easy, meaningful, and true to who you are in this season of life.
