with Rainy Vows, Historic Charm, and California Guests Who Came to Celebrate
Jessica and Joseph’s wedding day began with laughter echoing through the hallways of the Cool Springs House, a beautifully restored historic home in Brentwood, Tennessee. Upstairs in the bridal suite, Jessica and her bridesmaids wore matching pajamas, chatting and soaking in the quiet joy of the morning. The light through the windows was soft—just the kind of bright and airy glow photographers dream about.
Downstairs, the guys took their time getting ready—trading jokes, lending helping hands when needed, and savoring the moments before the ceremony.
With most of the guests flying in from California, the Cool Springs House porch felt like a family reunion. You could hear the buzz of happy conversation, people catching up, and the unmistakable warmth of reconnection.
Before seeing Joseph, Jessica shared two deeply emotional first looks—with her grandfather and her brother. As she held out her bouquet, her grandfather noticed something that stopped him in his tracks: Jessica had pinned her great-grandmother’s rosary and photo to the stems. His tears said everything.
Moments later, it was time for a surprise first look with Joseph. While he thought he was just stepping out for portraits on the front porch, Jessica came up behind him and gently asked, “Are you ready to see me?” His reaction? Pure love and joy. It was one of those moments that stays with you.
The forecast had promised overcast skies, but not rain. And yet, right as Jessica began her walk down the aisle, the first drops began to fall. And here’s what I’ll never forget: she didn’t flinch. With a smile on her face, she walked toward Joseph, ready to say her vows.
Jessica and Joseph read hand-written promises to each other in the soft rain, pledging their love and devotion in front of the people who meant the most to them. It was intimate, sacred, and somehow, the rain made it even more meaningful.
And right on cue—as soon as the ceremony ended—the rain cleared.
During their “just married” portraits, we walked the grounds of the Cool Springs House, built in the early 1800s. With its iconic front porch and timeless Southern charm, it was the perfect backdrop for capturing their first quiet moments as husband and wife.
The soft light, damp grass, and blooming trees created a romantic, peaceful feel that will forever be tied to their story.
As the evening unfolded with toasts, cake cutting, and a huge group photo, the energy only grew. When it was time for us to say goodnight, we paused in the parking lot—just in time to hear a chorus of voices belting out “Islands in the Stream” by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. The entire dance floor was singing. And I smiled to myself.
That’s what this day felt like—connection, joy, and a deep sense of belonging.
Jessica and Joseph, thank you for trusting us to tell your story. For leaning into the beauty of imperfection. For letting the rain be part of your legacy. Your day wasn’t just beautiful—it was powerful.
And to future couples planning a wedding at Cool Springs House in Brentwood, TN—don’t worry if the forecast shifts. Sometimes the best stories begin with a little rain.
